Sarcoidosis Answers for Physicians, Nurses and Patients

Here at SarcInfo, between 2002 and 2004, we identified the cause of Sarcoidosis, and successfully trialled a curative antimicrobial therapy. During 2005 and 2006 the US FDA designated the antibiotics Clindamycin and Minocycline as Orphan Products in the treatment of Sarcoidosis, and studies are ongoing elsewhere.

For information about this breakthrough, please post your questions at the current study-site, or the Autoimmunity Research Foundation.

This archive of the historic study is maintained by volunteers from the Foundation. The material here provides useful background, but much of it is now out-of-date.

Hello bigwig,

Way back when I was diagnosed in 1976, my lymph nodes were swollen all over my body. It was even tough to walk, everything hurt. It didn't seem to last long but I can't remember now. I never took steroids, so I don't know if the steroids would make any improvements or if it's something your body does on it's own. I had several taken from my lungs for biopsy purpose.

Good luck,
Elaine

Hi Guys,
I know I seem to stick my nose in just about every subject but this is one that is especially close to me. I was only diagnosed 3 years ago but I have had swollen lymph nodes (or glands) for manyyears. I was finally diagnosed via a biopsy of several of them from my lungs. I have never found a way to reduce them in size or in amount. Sometimes I cannot walk properly coz they r so swollen in my groin, behind my knees, & I have problems using my arms because of them swelling in my arm pits, behind my ears & at the base of my hairline. I have tried Prednisone twice but have a severe intolerance to it & even then it did not reduce the swelling. I think some of us just have them for many years & have to learn to live with it. I am hoping that with remission (which I keep telling myself is on it's way) that will be the end of them.
Stay positive
Cheers ... Cher

Hi:
I too, have had swollen glands and they appear on and off. Sometimes it hurts to turn your head they ache so much. The doctors always examine for swollen glands when I go for a physical examination. I also get checked because I had a Melanoma removed two years ago. Along with the neck swollen glands I sometimes break out in Canker sores in the mouth....wonder if they are at all connected?
